Special Task Force agent Derek Atkinson has a tricky customer in his sights: a vampire bounty hunter named Sable Taylor, who refuses (so far) to give in to his advances. But as time wears on, Derek decides that there’s no way he’s going to let Sable get the last word.
An edgy combination of vampire romance, erotica and all-out thriller, Misled (Carnal Thirst) could be accused of trying to pack too much into its relatively short length. Fortunately, Sylvia Day keeps the narrative charging along at a great pace and there’s not too much time to stop and think about the moments of implausibility. Sable and Derek make for a strong pair of protagonists, and their attraction to one another is developed convincingly.
As a tale of vampire romance, Misled (Carnal Thirst) is fast-paced and refreshingly free of many of the genre’s most common cliches. As a thriller, it’s a quick burst of action. And the erotica element is set up very well, as you might expect of the author of Bared To You. Overall, this is a highly recommended tale of vampire lust.
